Every couple of years, I feel a familiar urge—an instinctual knowing that it’s time to reinvent myself. As a curious person, I thrive on the process of discovery. Yet, I’ve noticed that there are periods when I feel completely dialed into who I am at that time. I focus on looking inward, rather than outward, to enjoy what I’ve surrounded myself and mind with. But as time passes and I evolve, I start to feel a readiness to break free from what I’ve grown content with, eager to discover what else awaits me. I cherish these personal ‘up-levels’ and the chance to see things from new perspectives. Right now, I’m amidst this very shift, and I’m excited to see where it leads!
I’ve been a tiny quiet this past week working hard behind the scenes dreaming up new visions for myself and work. I have a couple of people helping me now, which I should have done a very long time ago. Still in the process of on-boarding and learning our new collaborative process, but just feeling the support has been so empowering. Weight lifted! Not only that, to have people who care about my work—be here for me to bounce ideas, offer suggestions, and to help me bring my ideas to life—has me brimming with joy. Needing that synergy.
A major learning curve going from all-consumed with building my business to mom: you simply cannot do it all (by yourself). I am working with my team to reimagine my scheduled newsletters, new and shiny visions coming soon.
In the meantime, a little catch up for you on latest inspiration, happenings, and cool discoveries. I have been at my desk in workout clothes most of the week so not a ton of style to cover, but some sweet snaps from moments of pause and from last weekend…
This reflection view of my desk makes me happy. I tidied this space up recently and moved some things around… isn’t it amazing how sometimes the smallest tweaks offer completely new perspective? That feeling of awe when it happens will forever be one of my favorite feelings. Design details: mirror, chair, rug (might buy a second for bedroom), side table (the larger one—also found this similar). I have these woven chargers I set on top of the table. Everything else is vintage!
I got the sweetest package in the mail last weekend from the Oak Essential team! It was a little sampling of products they have at their Oak Essential Wellness Club in upstate New York. I have to say it has been such a treat watching Jenni Kayne’s brand and other ventures blossom over the many years I’ve worked with them. I think we started teaming up back in 2018. So much has happened since for them! Going from a small capsule-like collection to where their team has taken the brand(s) over just a handful of years is really inspiring. Super proud to work with them and to cheer them on as they go. Obsessed with this balancing mist.
Another view that I don’t often see often from this angle! One of those moments I’ve experienced this season while enjoying our ‘new’ home is being struck for a second wondering: I can’t believe we did this. I know I have said it before but it’s a true dream realized to create this kind of setting for my little girl to grow up in. Wish you could come over for a summer bbq to enjoy it too!
My little sous chef. I feel like I need to do another motherhood post catch up and share some favorite parts and memories from this chapter of Grace’s childhood. It just keeps getting better. PS. Whenever I share this tower I’m asked about it, in case you’re curious it’s from this brand!
If you have a MIXT near you… order the new Mediterranean salad immediately! It is heavenly. I have tried it with both crispy chicken and roasted chicken and loved. Why do salads always taste better when someone else makes them??
I went to the SF Flower Mart and brought these cuties home. My entry corner is looking very end-of-summer autumnal. Design details if you care to know: the baroque demi-lune table is a very favorite antique treasure from Erin Lane Estate. The Dutch repousse mirror was purchased from 1stDibs. The rest: the lamp (sharing this similar find for one lucky person!), sconce, and hurricane (sold out but they have other great options here).
This deserved a spotlight of its own. I am still finding my bearings with baking… but Grace and I made the best batch of cookies I’ve ever made! It’s the Chuck Williams of Williams Sonoma chocolate chunk cookie recipe from this book. I am going to experiment a bit with using almond flour and healthier sugars… but in the meantime if you want the real deal, they were chefs kiss.
Personally, I prefer all chocolate items be cold. I’ve always felt this way—not here for room temp or hot chocolate… put them in the freezer to grab when the mood strikes and thank me later. Enjoy!!!
And now, a bevy of beautiful and fun things I’ve uncovered lately…
